IHSMA Jazz Competitions have been rescheduled due to poor weather. They will now be held on Wednesday February 3rd. We will be leaving the school no later than 12:30, warming up at 2:10, performing at 2:30, and, if all goes well, returning to the school no later than 4:45.
The band has been working very hard to get ready for this year's jazz competition! On January 25th we will be traveling to Summner-Fredricksburg to participate in the 2a division of the IHSMA Jazz Festival. We will be playing a jazz set consisting of Flight of the Foo Birds, Angel Eyes, and Dawn of the Chili Pepper. We would love to see you there. If you would like to join us we will be performing at the Summner-Fredricksburg high school at 5:40 pm.
The annual Upper Iowa Conference honor band will be held on Monday January 18th. It is being hosted by South WInn. and both the rehearsal and the concert will be held in Calmar. Five students from MFL MarMac will be in attendance. The concert will be held at 7:00 pm and there will be a $5 admission fee. Come join us for a wonderful evening of music and celebrate this accomplishment with our students and our community!
MFL MarMac High School Musician Selected for District Honor Band
Ryan from the MFL MarMac High School Band has been selected to participate in the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters’ Association Honor Band Festival on Saturday, December 5, 2015. This student will perform in one of two 124 piece ensembles made up of instrumentalists from 60 schools in Northeast Iowa. The student will rehearse all day Saturday and present a concert at 7:00 pm in the Oelwein High School Gymnasium. The two bands will be under the direction of Kevin Kastens, from the University of Iowa, and Curran Pendergast, from Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri. The high school band has a busy two weeks coming up!
